Oklahoma Highway Patrol says one is dead and another is in critical condition after a wreck in Creek County Friday, August 6.
OHP says it happened around 5:08 p.m. near Highway 33 and South 209th West Avenue in Sapulpa. The intersection near the Blue Bell Church.
They say three vehicles were driving in the westbound lanes when one slowed down to make a turn. The driver behind them slowed down but a third person driving a 1999 Peterbilt semi-truck did not. Troopers say the semi overtook the two cars in front, crushing them and killing one and sending another to the hospital. The semi driver, Charles Stuart, 44, of Glencoe, Oklahoma was not injured.
OHP later identified the person who passed away was a passenger of one of the cars, Sara Clark, 40, from Drumright. The driver, Michael Crane, 47 from Drumright, was transported by EMS to St John’s Hospital in Tulsa in poor condition, said Troopers.
A separate driver who was involved in the accident was Christian Tucker, age 23, of Claremore. He was driving a 2011 Kia Soul and refused treatment at the scene.
Troopers are still working to determine why the semi-truck driver did not slow down.
